Rain Storm Leads to Flooded Basement
This basement in Hazleton experienced water damage from a recent storm. When a carpet gets saturated and not dried properly the most common damage which will occur will be mold. Carpet fibers are an excellent feeding source for the organism and the gasses it emits will be visibly seen on the adjacent surface which in this case is a sheet rocked wall. A proper remediation entails not only removing the visible mold but also the source (i.e. the carpet). In this instance to restore the basement we had to do flood cuts, repair the sheet rock and remove the carpeting. Due to the amount of time the room stayed wet, we unfortunately had to replace instead of repair. Timely response to water damage is highly recommended to reduce secondary damage like mold.
